The GWV Rebels will travel to RAMS Arena, Craigieburn this Sunday to take on the Calder Cannons at 2:30pm in their annual ANZAC Cup clash and TAC CUP double header.
The Rebels remain winless in 2017 after going down last week to a determined Dandenong outfit at the QEO, Bendigo. After a very slow start the Rebels found themselves 64 points down at the halftime break, but after coming out to play in the second half managed to bring the margin back to just 14 points, only to eventually go down to the Stingrays by 20 points.
Now the team’s attention has shifted to the Calder Cannons who are also winless after 3 Rounds of the TAC CUP.
This week’s game has more importance for both teams as it’s the 4th battle between the two outfits for their annual ANZAC Cup and no doubt the occasion will not be lost by either team as all players understand the importance of this prestigious day on the Australian Calendar.
Despite the game not being held on ANZAC day, there will be a ceremony prior to the game which will hopefully help drive the Rebels to gain their first 4 points of the 2017 TAC CUP Season.
This week the Rebels will debut Portland Football Club’s Tylar Watts, as well as included Scott Carlin (Terang / Mortlake) who is returning from the St Patricks College trip to Darwin, and former 2016 Rebels squad members Thomas Scott (Hamilton FNC) and Naish McRoberts (Stawell FNC).
