The Greater Western Victoria Rebels will this week take on the Western Jets in their first game on the developing Eureka Stadium. This will be the first time the Rebels will be able to run out on the new ground in their GWV Rebels jumpers, and they will look to defeat the Western Jets whilst doing so.
Last week the Rebels went down to the Oakleigh Chargers by 40 points, in what was an arm wrestle of a game up until half time. In the wet and windy neither team could break away from their fierce opponents until the third quarter, in which the Chargers capitalised with three sets of back to back goals. They then managed to hold this margin from the Rebels for the remainder of the match.
The Western Jets will enter the round 7 duel coming after a 24 point loss to the Geelong Falcons last week. Both teams will lead into this match with two wins and four losses to their name in the 2017 season, meaning this game will see the victor gain the higher position on the ladder.
This week the Rebels line up will include Ararat's Jack Antonio included for his Rebels debut after impressing at senior level with the Rats in recent weeks, Angus Gove (Horsham Saints) for his second game for the season, and Matt Schnerring (Warrnambool) return after he missed last weekend’s clash due to a corked thigh.
