This Sunday will see all six country TAC CUP teams travel to Ballarat in order to play off in front of the eyes of many AFL Club recruiters in the TAC CUP Country Round. Kicking off the day will see the Geelong Falcons take on the Murray Bushrangers at 10:30am, after which the Gippsland Power will battle the Bendigo Pioneers at 1:00pm and finally the Greater Western Victoria Rebels will look to crumble the Dandenong Stingrays at 3:30pm.
The day will see all players be involved in the TAC Drive to the Game promotion to encourage all to drive safe on our roads. A important message for all.
Also on Sunday, the 24 year reunion for all past and present Rebels will also take place at the North Ballarat Sports Club. This day will incorporate the 20 year reunion since the North Ballarat Rebels 1997 premiership victory, and will be held during the game between the Rebels and the Stingrays who were the same two teams who played off in the 1997 grand final. The Rebels would like to welcome along all whom have previously been involved with the Rebels to this event.
This great day of football will follow the AFL match between the Western Bulldogs and Port Adelaide on Saturday in Ballarat, and means all facilities and the ground will be of AFL standard. The new development at Mars Stadium is one of the best in Australia and is a great promotion for football in Ballarat.
The GWV Rebels are coming off the back of one of the great wins in Rebels history, after overcoming a 43 point deficit at three quarter time in their last match to roll over the Murray Bushrangers by just one goal. The Rebels boys will be hopefully filled with confidence as they take on a strong Dandenong outfit that have been in form during the second half of the season. Returning to the Rebels side for the upcoming match will be Lloyd Meek (SMW Rovers), Tom Morrish (Redan), Matt Schnerring (Warrnambool) & Tom Scott (Hamilton Kangaroos). The Rebels will also debut Ed Delany (Port Fairy), who has played majority of the year with Xavier College and will join the Rebels side this weekend to take on the Stingrays.
