This weekend now proves a must win challenge for the Rebels against the top of the ladder Oakleigh Chargers. Last time the two teams met the Chargers were 40 point winners after a very even first half at their home ground. This time the two teams will clash on the Rebels home turf at Mars Stadium at 1:00pm on Sunday 16th July. The new facilities at Mars Stadium are amongst the best in the TAC Cup, now almost fully completed the stadium can holdt up to eleven thousand spectators.
This is just in time for the annual Friends of the Rebels and Ronald McDonald House Charity Match which will see a crowd of people rush to Mars Stadium to assist the Rebels in raising much needed funds for sick children and their families. A lunch function, raffle and goods and services auction will all be held, of which all proceeds will go towards Ronald McDonald House Charity.
The function starts at 12:00pm then at 1pm Rebels TAC Cup side will take to the field to take on the Chargers in Round 13 of the TAC CUP. The Rebels would like to thank all those in the community who have already donated in order to help set up this big day on the Rebels calendar.
Returning to the side from injury for this weekend’s match is Joe Dodd (East Point), Jed Hill (Ballarat) and Lloyd Meek (SMW Rovers), who will all hopefully be able to play their role in what will be an important match for the GWV Rebels.
