This Saturday the Eastern Ranges will travel up the Western Highway to MARS STADIUM to take on the GWV Rebels at 1:00pm.
Both teams coming off a bye round in the TAC CUP should see the boys itching to play another high standard of football on the fantastic new facilities at Mars Stadium which are getting closer and closer to finished.
The Facility has recently been re-named from Eureka Stadium to Mars Stadium, in what is a great representation of a long term and treasured partner of the GWV Rebels supporting the Ballarat Community.
The Ranges are recently coming off a 16 point loss to the Murray Bushrangers prior to the bye, whilst the Rebels battled the knights all day to end up with a draw at 48 points each, the first draw for many years in the Rebels program.
Saturday will be a very important game for both sides as we are well under way in the second half of this year, both teams are on the edge of the eight and will be looking to make a statement in order to play finals footy later in the year. Last time the two teams met was earlier this year in Round 5 and the Rebels ran over the top of the Ranges as 53 point victors.
This week the Rebels will debut Aiden McDougall (Lake Wendouree) in Round 12 of the 2017 TAC CUP. Aiden has been persistent this year after being named to play several weeks ago but unfortunately was a late withdrawal with a calf injury. After spending a couple of weeks in rehab he’s fit and back ready to play as a tall defender in the Rebels side. The Rebels also welcome the return of Thomas Berry (Horsham Saints), Jordan Johnston (North City), Charlie Wilson (Warrack Eagles), Joel O’Connell (Lake Wendouree), Alex Harvey (Redan) and captain Callan Wellings (Trentham) who are six very strong inclusions for this weekend’s game.
