Round 11 of the 2017 TAC Cup season will see the GWV Rebels welcome the Northern Knights to Eureka stadium on Sunday at 11:00am in what will be a fierce encounter of football.
The Rebels match this week will be a curtain raiser to the VFL match between the North Ballarat Roosters and the Geelong Cats, who will follow on Eureka Stadium at 2:00pm.
This week the Rebels welcome back Izaac Johnson for the first time in 2017. After a solid year for the Rebels in 2016 Izaac has been plagued by multiple injuries this year and the Rebels look forward to having him back in the team.
The Rebels will debut one player, Tom Clark (East Point), ahead of Sunday’s clash with the Knights. Tom’s ball winning ability and dash will hold him in good stead for his first game of TAC Cup football.
Congratulations to Callan Wellings (Trentham) and Jordan Johnston (North Ballarat City) who will this weekend make their debut for the Vic Country side in Round 2 of the U18 National Championships when they take on Vic Metro in the Victorian Derby. Both of these boys have excelled at TAC Cup level in the first half of the season and worked hard to earn their spot in the side. The match will be held at Punt Road at 12:00pm this Saturday. We wish both Callan and Jordan all the best.
Congratulations also to Rebels overage player Lloyd Meek who will make his VFL debut on Sunday against the Geelong Cats. Lloyd has played both TAC Cup and Vic Country this year and this week has a great opportunity to play alongside the Roosters against AFL listed players in the Geelong VFL side.
