This Saturday the GWV Rebels head to Casey Fields to battle the Gippsland Power in what will be a fierce contest for a spot in the top eight of the TAC CUP Competition. Both teams will enter the match with 3 wins and 6 losses.
This weekend the TAC Cup is hosting its inaugural Futures Round.
Futures Rounds (Rounds 10, 11 & 12) have been programmed into the TAC CUP fixture throughout the period of the Under 18 National Carnival. These rounds are designed to provide AFL RECRUITERS with a preview of ‘future drafts’ whilst ensuring the ongoing development of bottom age players through games within the TAC CUP competition.
During these rounds each TAC region is expected to play a minimum of 11 players who are turning either 16 or 17 in that particular year. Each region will be permitted to play 24 players during these rounds resulting in a 11 – 13 split between bottom age (16/17yrs) and top age players (18/19yrs).
The Rebels welcome three debutants into the team this week.
Joel O’Connell (Lake Wendouree), Tom Morrish (Redan) and Lochie Dawson (Hamilton). All three of the boys playing well with their local clubs in recent weeks and deserve the opportunity. Morrish originally missed the initial Rebels Squad due to being new to the Rebels Talent Region but has performed very well at senior level over the past months and deserves an opportunity to come into the Rebels program and play TAC Cup.
