The Greater Western Victoria Rebels are in for a jam packed Easter long weekend of football, with the boys taking on the Geelong Falcons and girls taking on the Northern Knights.
The U16 Boys Development Squad will be the first of the Rebels to kick the weekend off, coming up against the Falcons on Good Friday with a 12:00pm start at Spring Creek Reserve, Torquay. The U16 boys are fresh off a solid 14 point win against the Bendigo Pioneers in their first game of the AFL Vic Country Challenge Series, and hope to back this effort up on Friday against a strong Falcons outfit.
The Rebels TAC Cup Boys clash with the Bendigo Pioneers last week was proving a close contest between the two rivals, after the Rebels had a three quarter time lead; Bendigo came out victors by one point in a disappointing finish. After the round 1 loss, the Rebels will definitely be looking to bounce back against Geelong, this match will commence at 1:00pm on Easter Sunday at GMHBA Stadium.
The Falcons are coming off a 53 point loss to the Stingrays last week, so will also be looking to bounce back with a win, this will no doubt make for a great contest between the two teams who battled closely in a solid hit out in two trial games a few weeks ago.
Two Rebels players will make their TAC Cup debuts in Geelong, with Charlie Perks (North Ballarat City) and Josh Mawson (Hamilton Kangaroos) replacing the injured Ben Annett and Thomas Berry.
The U16 and TAC Cup Girls will come up against the Northern Knights on Tuesday the 3rd of April at Mill Park Lakes Recreation Reserve, South Morang.
The TAC Cup Girls are coming off their first win of the season against the Bendigo Pioneers in round 3 and will look to take this confidence into Tuesday’s game, beginning at 2:45pm. The Rebels will need to be at their best against a strong Knights side, who have started the season with wins from each ot their first three games.
