As the Rebels get a chance to regroup this weekend, five players will have the opportunity to try and impress the Vic Country selectors in the first development weekend of 2016.
This Sunday at IKON Park in Carlton over 50 players across the six Country Victoria TAC Cup clubs will come together and play in Vic Country Trial Games against NSW/ACT and Queensland.
The Rebels will be well represented this weekend amongst the Vic Country initial squad, with nine players invited to try to cement their name into the final squad.
Lloyd Meek (North Ballarat), Tom Williamson (Ararat), Sam White (South Mallee Giants), Willem Drew (Koroit) and Shannon Beks (South Warrnambool) will all play this weekend against NSW/ACT, while Callan Wellings (Trentham) will miss the game due to injury.
Hugh McCluggage (South Warrnambool), Jarrod Berry (Horsham Saints) and Jarrod Korewha (Koroit) will also miss the trial game for Vic Country due to AFL Academy duties.
The Academy will be playing their second game against the Geelong VFL team this Saturday at Simonds Stadium, kicking off at 3pm.
This is a great privilege for all nine players as they will get a taste of the upcoming NAB AFL National U18 Championships which kick off in early June.
Game 1 V Queensland 10.30am start. (Dandenong Stingrays & Geelong Falcon Players)
Game 2 V NSW/ACT 1.30pm start (Rebels, Gippsland Power, Bendigo Pioneers and Murray Bushrangers players)
