The Rebels are preparing for a tough assignment at Shepley Oval, Dandenong this Saturday as they face the Dandenong Stingrays commencing at 1pm.
Both teams have been in impressive form after coming off promising wins last week.
The Dandenong Stingrays knocked off the tough Gippsland Power outfit by 21 points last week making it four wins in a row to move up to 2nd on the ladder.
The Rebels held on last Saturday at Highgate Recreation Reserve against the Bushrangers to get over the line by 4 points after the last kick of the day by Tom Templeton, placing the Rebels in front and giving them their 8th straight win. The game was fought out in a very physical encounter. The Rebels got off to a great start however the Bushrangers fought back and made it a very tough contest.
Whilst some Vic Country players from both sides will be rested due to the workload they have been exposed to over the year it will give opportunities for other players to play at this level.
Four Rebels; Jacob Hopper, Connor Byrne, Daniel Rioli and Ezekiel Frank will be unavailable due to Round 1 of the Division 2 NAB U/18 AFL Championships. Jacob and Connor will be representing NSW/ACT against Tasmania, whilst Daniel and Ezekiel will be representing the Northern Territory against Queensland. Both games will be played in Queensland and we wish all four Rebels all the best.
Two Rebels will make their debut this week, Koroit’s Jarrod Korewha will play after a lot of hard work recovering from a foot injury, and Hepburn’s Jackson Carrick will get his opportunity in the TAC Cup after his impressive local footy form. Yestin Eades will also add some spark to the line- up as he returns from his Vic Country duties. These are three big inclusions which are set to strengthen this week’s line-up.
