Former Rebel Willem Drew has been selected to play his first game of AFL for the Port Adelaide in Round 1 against the Melbourne Football Club, Saturday, March 23 at 1:45pm.
Coming to Port Adelaide as a promising midfielder via the 2016 National Draft (Pick #33), Willem Drew is one of the Power's emerging crop of young guns. Originally from Greater Western Victoria Rebels, he has shown signs of his ability to play on the inside or outside as well as pushing forward to kick goals. A big-bodied midfielder renowned for his decision making under pressure.
"Drew is picked because he can play really good football already and we think he can certainly have an impact straight away.
"Whether that be in pressure, whether that be in ball use, whether that be in team care, I'm sure he can have an impact.
"And what a great place to play your first game, the MCG. It's pretty exciting." - Ken Hinkley.
Drew played for Koroit FNC during his junior career.
