The North Ballarat Rebels held their 2016 Presentation Day this past Saturday (22nd October) in front of almost 200 people at St Patrick's College, Ballarat.
The large crowd in attendance witnessed a close and enthralling vote count for the Rebels Best & Fairest, the Adam Goodes Trophy, which came down the final round of voting before a winner was determined.
In a system where three coaches each week submit cards in which they've given five players a score out of 10 for the day, meaning that any one player can receive up to 30 votes in a single game, the margin of victory was just eight votes, with South Warrnambool's Hugh McCluggage capping off a fine individual season by taking home the Adam Goodes Trophy to go alongside his TAC Cup Morrish Medal, Victoria Country MVP award in the NAB Under 18 National Championships and his All-Australian guernsey.
McCluggage, who played in 12 TAC Cup games in season 2016, including the Rebels two finals matches, polled in all 12 of his TAC Cup appearances to finish on 295 votes and edge out Koroit's Willem Drew, who was runner-up with 287 votes after polling in 15 games. Trentham's Callan Wellings took out third place with 193 votes after receiving his first votes in Round 7 and polling in every other game he played for the season bar the Round 16 win over the Northern Knights.
All of the day's winners are listed below, with a spreadsheet containing the full voting breakdown for the season at the bottom of this page.
