It was a very successful week for the North Ballarat Rebels at the Morrish Medal Presentation Night at Etihad Stadium on Sunday night. The Rebels managed to achieve 7 awards on the night after a successful 2015 campaign that is still yet to complete with a preliminary final this weekend and a job to be finished.

The North Ballarat Rebels were acknowledged for their enormous effort in the TAC Victoria Speed Hurts Campaign in taking out the illusive Road Safety Program Award on the night.

The Rebels also won this award in 2014.

After winning the coach of the year in 2014, Coach David Loader was able to go back to back and win the TAC Cup Coach of the year for the second time after his brilliant performance in assisting the Rebels throughout the season, only losing three games and finishing top of the ladder winning the minor premiership.

Loader was very supportive of the coaches he’s worked with and learnt from along his journey so far. He says he wouldn’t be where he is today without the relationships he’s made within football and through gaining knowledge off coaches within the industry.

Jarrod Berry, Jacob Hopper and Darcy Tucker were selected into the TAC Cup Team of the Year after strong season campaigns. Berry was selected on the Half Back Flank, Hopper gained a rover position, and Tucker was named on the interchange. All three boys have played a vital role for the Rebels this season.

Adding to the night, Jarrod Berry and Jacob Hopper were awarded with selection in the AFL All-Australian U/18 Team of the Year after an astonishing performance in the NAB AFL U/18 Championships for Vic Country and New South Wales.

The awards capped off an outstanding season for the Rebels on a night which they were strongly credited for the consistent year they had, however there is still a job yet to be finished. This Saturday the Rebels will take on the Oakleigh Chargers in the Preliminary Final for a spot in the Grand Final, the boys are well prepared and can’t wait for what’s to come. Go Rebels!!
